Algarve Classics Rugby 2011

Portugal is fast becoming one of the most popular tour destinations, particularly for rugby.  With Portugal gaining the last European slot to compete in the 2007 Rugby World Cup and acquitting themselves admirably, there has never been a better time to visit on a rugby tour. Their sevens team is also competing in the IRB series and have taken some big scalps in recent years, including a win against England in Dubai 2010. Rugby means a lot to those who play in Portugal, and they are also big fans of what they call the '3rd' half.

One tournament that epitomises rugby in this country is the Algarve Rugby Classics, now confirmed for the 30th April 2011. The Algarve Vets Classic is for those men aged over 35 years in the twilight of their rugby career, so if you are a Vets team that wants great hospitality, whilst enjoying the Portuguese sun with slightly competitive games then this exciting rugby festival is perfect for you. When the rugby finishes, the entertainment continues, with the exciting night life of the Algarve.

All the fixtures will be held at Vilamoura's Rugby Club on a lush grass pitch and the competition format of the Algarve Classics Rugby Tournament guarantees all teams competitive matches. The tournament is open to men's teams of age 35 and above. There will be two dispensations for player's under 35 but over 32.
Each team is expected to play a minimum 20 minutes one way per
game and play a minimum of 3 to 4 games.

Arrival day on Friday sees all teams getting together for welcome drinks. After the matches on Saturday the gala dinner party and trophies ceremony will take place at a restaurant close to the
Vilamoura Marina. What could be better for a Vets team than playing rugby at one of Europe´s most beautiful destinations, Vilamoura, Algarve, with some of nicest beaches just a stroll away from the hotel
