Cologne Crusaders XV's Tournament May 2012

Now in its sixth year, this one-day XV-a-side tournament is ideal for those teams who are looking for a social rugby tournament in a lively destination. Over the past years teams from the UK, Ireland, France, Luxembourg, Germany and Holland have all participated in the event and enjoyed the social ambience that Cologne Crusaders Rugby Club are famous for.  It will be held on 5th May 2012.

Cologne (Köln), Germany's oldest city, is full of history and architecture. Just walking around this city you will stumble across an ancient Roman wall, medieval churches galore, post war buildings and avant-garde museums and concert halls. It is Germany's fourth largest city, founded by the Romans in 38 BC, has a long list of sightseeing attractions.

For our adult groups, The Altstadt is also the best place to sample Kölsch, the refreshing local brew, in beer halls rivalling those in Bavaria. The city also has the highest concentration of pubs and clubs per capita in Germany, with a vibrant club scene.

There are numerous activities to keep you occupied, whether it is go-karting at the Michael Schumacher Kart and Event Centre (a must do!) or a day’s cruise on the river Rhine while enjoying the stunning landscape of the Rhine Valley. For adult groups, party cruises are also available.

Cologne is located near the Belgian border and is between 4 and 5 hours from Calais so it is ideal for groups travelling from the South of England.

Germany is an up and coming rugby nation and there is an abundance of clubs who are of a good standard and keen to welcome touring sides for a competitive game of rugby.  The Cologne Crusaders epitomises rugby in Germany, lots of grilled sausages, cold beverages and a closing party with live music, a great social event. Played on the Saturday, the tournament gets underway about 11am and finishes around 5pm. There is also a Friday welcoming event at a Beerhouse in central Cologne.  There is added interest in the 2012 tournament with the Underwood brothers making an appearance for a vets team already confirmed.

Testimonial:
