Bournemouth Training Camp

KCS Wimbledon 1st XV recently travelled to Bournemouth for a week long training camp ahead of the new term which sees them play in a competitive fixture list. Tours4 were delighted to be able to help again with the school's preparation for the new term, and organised 4 days in Bournemouth for the group which included excellent training facilities, a superb hotel with pool and gym, and of course proximity to the beach for recovery and downtime. A new venue in our UK training camp product offering, Bournemouth offers excellent accommodation, top class facilities, a beach location, and the benefit of being only 2 hours from London. 

Facilities

Training is based at a 65-acre sporting venue, situated just outside Bournemouth next to the Airport. The facility is one of the UK’s leading sports centres and is home for international sport in the South as well as being home to the biggest rugby 7s tournament in the world. The facilities include three exceptional full size rugby pitches (one with spectator stand) and a further four junior rugby pitches. Home to the biggest rugby 7s tournament in the world, the RFU considers the pitches to be one of the best in the south of England. A further six beautifully maintained football pitches are open both to the public and for professional team training sessions. Users of the pitches have included premiership, championship and league teams.

Accommodation

The hotel is based 5-10 minutes drive from the sports venue and is an excellent 3* modern hotel, with excellent rooms and great facilities. In the hotel there is a gym with a vast range of cardio equipment (bikes, rowers and running machines) and a limited number of free weights and fixed resistance machines. The gym functions as a business and is a good commercial gym which runs a membership scheme. There is a 25 metre swimming pool with sauna and jacuzzi as well, making this an ideal area for players to relax after a hard day on the pitches, or for staff to get an early morning blow-out in before a day of putting the players through their paces. 

There is a bar with large screen TV, good for staff and students after dinner.The food is excellent for busy sportsmen.  There is also a Starbucks!

Itinerary

The daily itinerary typically included morning and afternoon pitch sessions, with lunch at the sports club at midday, and gym/pool sessions late afternoon.  This can be tailored to each group's requirements. With two full size sand based astro pitches, this package can also be offered to hockey and netball squads. 

With Boscombe beach only 5 minutes drive away, there is also the chance for some much needed downtime and a chance for the group to recover and enjoy the best Bournemouth has to offer.

We liked the fact that it was only 2 hours from London, and also had the beach nearby.  It was reassuring to have a Tours 4 rep on hand and we'll certainly consider returning next year"
